The culprit is Shunichi Morishita. The proof was the paint smudges on his shirt. The colors of the smudges on his shirt didn't match the colors of his robots used in the diorama, which used very vivid colors. But it did match the colors of the diorama on display.

Morishita reveals that Kitajima forced Morishita to make models for him. His mother was sick, and he borrowed money from Kitajima. But because of Kitajima's outrageous interest, Morishita's debt inflated and he couldn't repay it.

As for the weapon, it was a knife painted in natural light green he had prepared in advance, and hidden in a bouquet in the room. The color paint he had used was in his paint case.

In the end, the Detective Boys, Haibara, and Professor Agasa give the toy models they got to Conan, much to his dismay.
